What are some ways you can celebrate your TOCs?
*Tip: Email staff to first find out who identifies as a TOC, and if they do, would they like to be celebrated on this day.


1.     Inexpensive Gift: Handmade gift from a student, chocolates (no nuts in case of allergies), a flower/rose, $10 Dunkin Donuts gift card

2.     Food: Find out what snacks, drinks, catered meals, etc. your teachers like.  Also, a smoothie/coffee/ice cream cart that rolls to each class is a one-stop shop!

3.     Public praise: Shoutouts over intercoms from students, teachers and leaders. A more lasting gift is a class “Thank You” book. Websites like Shutterfly create great books, but handmade books will put a smile on your teacher’s face as well.

4.     Personal praise: A handwritten note, email with only positive feedback, call them to your office or pop into their classroom, tell them compliments you hear others share about them. Younger students can create colorful cards and older students can type up honest letters of appreciation to their teachers. Students: make sure to highlight a specific instance when your teacher really helped you through a problem or helped you learn a difficult concept.

5.     Custom swag: Head over to Dollar Tree or another frugal store to grab a positive quote mug and a calligraphy pen to write a teachers’ names on. Any school shirts, water bottles, supplies w/ your logo, etc are also great! OR, you can simply place it in an affordable gift bag with the teacher’s name on it.  

6.     Extra planning time: Provide coverage for their lunch/recess/arrival/dismissal duty, extension or exemption from a non-critical deadline.

7.    Praise from a former student: Film a video, take a picture, capture student quotes, hand deliver a card signed by former students with a "thank you" balloon, prompt students to randomly share gratitude to TOC. 

 

Thank you for your concerted effort in appreciating a TOC, and helping to emphasize the impact they have each day.
